Partner Dr. Nikolaus Pitkowitz war am 11. April 2018 Mit-Organisator der Diskussionsrunde mit Professor Andy Spalding “Out of reach of US and UK anti-corruption laws? THINK AGAIN”. Das Event war eine gemeinsame Veranstaltung des Vienna City Chapters der American Bar Association (ABA) Section of International Law und der International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). Nikolaus Pitkowitz ist Chair des Vienna City Chapters der ABA Section of International Law.

On the occasion of the 25th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court („Vis Moot Court“) the traditional Pre-Moot Event, organized by the firm took place in the distinguished hearing rooms of the Austrian Supreme Court at the Vienna Palace of Justice on March 23rd 2018.

Nikolaus Pitkowitz and his team succeeded in persuading the European Court of Justice to disallow the Class Action brought by Maximilian Schrems against the firm’s client Facebook. This CJEU decision is significant, as it stopped at the outset what could potentially have become the largest Austrian Class Action. Maximilian Schrems cannot bring claims of additional 75,000 Facebook users in Austria.
