Partner Nikolaus Pitkowitz was once again appointed for a term of 3 years as Member of the Board of the Vienna International Arbitration Center (VIAC).

On the occasion of the 26th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court (‘Vis Moot’), the traditional Pre-Moot Event, organized by the firm, once again took place in the distinguished hearing rooms of the Austrian Supreme Court at the Vienna Palace of Justice on April 12th, 2019.

The Dispute Resolution Team worked with Allen & Overy as Austrian counsel advising lenders in connection with a EUR 420 million financing of Vinci Airport's concession agreement for Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport, which closed on December 21, 2018. The team of the firm was led by senior partner Nikolaus Pitkowitz, head of the Dispute Resolution team.

McArthurGlen is Europe’s leading designer outlet operator with 24 centers in nine countries. In Austria, McArthurGlen operates the two well-known and successful designer outlets in Parndorf and Salzburg with a total of over 250 shops.

Nikolaus Pitkowitz and his team succeeded in persuading the European Court of Justice to disallow the Class Action brought by Maximilian Schrems against the firm’s client Facebook. This CJEU decision is significant, as it stopped at the outset what could potentially have become the largest Austrian Class Action. Maximilian Schrems cannot bring claims of additional 75,000 Facebook users in Austria.
